Judith's Spear & Rita's Scroll

For the spear, we had Victoria’s dad help turn the wood base on his lathe, the pieces were screwed together so they could be separated for a smaller package to ship. The spear part was created from expanding foam, shaved down, covered in EVA foam, coated in MirrorCoat, which was then sanded, and finally primed and painted. This made a strong, and still very lightweight structure for the spear. For Rita’s scroll, we used a very stiff interfacing core, covered in fabric, and stitched a thick gauge wire into each side of the scroll to help maintain it’s shape. The end of the scroll is a wooden dowel with cabinet knob ends. It was then hand painted with the golden zig zag pattern.
